What is Mac OS X Maintenance?
Mac OS X Maintenance is a 3 Year non-cancelable Agreement, payable in advance, during which the customer will receive any Major Upgrades to the Mac OS X product. Customers must be licensed for the current version of Mac OS X in order to be eligible to purchase Mac OS X Maintenance. Minimum per purchase order quantity is 10 for Mac OS X Maintenance, and maximum order quantity is limited to the number of systems owned by the customer which are licensed for the current version of Mac OS X.
Eligibility Requirements:
As the description above states, customers must be licensed for the current version of Mac OS X in order to be eligible to purchase Mac OS X Maintenance. Eligibility for Mac OS X Maintenance is limited to institutional customers to cover institutionally owned CPU's.
Individuals may purchase Mac OS X from the Illini Flash Drive, which is located in the Southwest corner, on the first floor of the Illini Union. Individual customers interested in purchasing Mac OS X for personal use can stop by or call the Illini Flash Drive at 217-244-7938 for more information.
How do UIUC Departments order Mac OS X Maintenance?
Departments should contact Central Stores & Receiving by December, 15 2008 to provide the number of eligible Mac CPU's for which they intend to purchase Mac OS X Maintenance. Central Stores & Receiving will consolidate the department orders into a single purchase order with Apple Inc. to be able to qualify for the best possible pricing tier available on behalf of campus.
At this time, Central Stores & Receiving is planning to order in March 2009, however this is subject to change and if so, all participating departmental contacts will be notified in advance.
Also, before moving forward with the purchase for campus, Central Stores will reach out to the participating department contact to confirm the amount of seats of Mac OS X Maintenance they intend to purchase.

Apple Inc. updates it's Education Price Lists regularly on it's web site. On the Education Price List web page, Apple Maintenance Pricing for Mac OS X and other Apple software products can be found under the price list section for Higher Education Institutions in the Education Volume Licensing Agreement price list.
